“Beatclub connects our growing music creator community with industry-leading producers. Our partnership with Horizon and Global Fan Exchange adds another key component in driving artists’ success by mobilizing fans and allowing them to connect with creators in an entirely new way.”

— Timbaland, Beatclub Founder

This week we were excited to reveal that we’ve partnered with Grammy Award-winning Producer Timbaland and Gary Marella’s highly anticipated beat-selling marketplace, Beatclub.

The partnership aims to bring first-of-their kind investment and regulated trading opportunities to fans globally while empowering the music creator community with the tools to drive funding and next level fan engagement to their music. First deals are expected to go live later this year.

In this week’s blog we want to share the details of our partnership and why we think it’ll benefit the music creator community and our growing investor community.

What is Beatclub?

Founded by Timbaland and Gary Marella, Beatclub enables artists to create music from beats crafted by Timbaland and other super-producers like Mike WiLL Made-It, Cash Money AP, Mike Dean, Tainy, J. Cole, Federico Vindver, Larrance Dopson, Tommy Brown and other A-list creators. Beatclub also recently partnered with both the National Hockey League (NHL) and Red Bull to provide custom music experiences.

The launch of Beatclub is officially coming later this year and arrives after Timbaland and Marella Co-Founded the successful online battle platform, Verzuz, which sold to Triller in March, 2021.¹

Timbaland

Timbaland, born Timothy Mosley, is a multi-platinum Grammy winning super-producer. He was recently ranked Billboard’s #3 producer of the 21st century. Mosley has created career-defining hits for artists such as Jodeci, Aaliyah, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, One Republic, Keri Hilson, Bryson Tiller, Bubba Sparks, Ginuwine, Missy Elliott, Destiny’s Child, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Katy Perry, Madonna, Alicia Keys and more.

Mosley founded Mosley Music Group, one of the most successful independent record labels in the business, selling over 25 million albums and 40 million singles, launching artists like One Republic, Nelly Furtado, Bubba Sparks and more, in addition to a number of successful solo projects.

Gary Marella

Gary Marella is founder of Mono Music Group, a producer management company based in Los Angeles, CA with a roster that includes Grammy Winning producers Timbaland, Larrance Dopson, Federico Vindver, Angel Lopez, Dallas Austin and more. Marella boasts over two decades of music industry experience, working at the likes of Universal Music Group and Three Six Zero.

Previously Marella was an artist manager at Roc Nation, and prior to that was on the major label side of the business for 15+ years having spent 10 years at Universal Records most recently as Senior Vice President of promotion. Marella has received over 100 platinum and gold plaques and over 20 RIAA certification awards among other awards.

What the partnership between Horizon and Beatclub entails

“Integrating with Beatclub, a platform with thousands of the top producers, writers and artists gives us unprecedented access to the music industry. Our collaboration will enable us to bring innovative music ownership, NFT services, and regulated trading opportunities to our growing fan-investor community.”

— Mark Elenowitz, Horizon President

Horizon’s integration will enable creators to fund their music ventures by offering a percentage of their songs, albums and masters to fans, who in turn become brand ambassadors that help drive awareness of the music.

As a quick recap, Horizon is a FinTech company powering the upcoming digital stock exchange, Upstream, and fan engagement platform, Global Fan Exchange (“GFX”).

Global Fan Exchange “GFX” is a next generation fan engagement platform giving fans the opportunity to invest, drive awareness, and share in the success of celebrity ventures. On GFX, fans will be able to browse opportunities to purchase ownership shares in their favorite songs alongside other unique athlete, team, musician, and entertainers’ venture opportunities.

Using Upstream, the Horizon-powered digital exchange and trading app, fans will be able to trade shares with other fans from around the world for as little as $25, receive potential dividends and royalties, and purchase memorabilia as NFTs (non-fungible tokens).

In addition to sharing in any of the music’s success, fans will also gain access to unique perks such as meet and greets, early access, etc.

Why we believe the music creator community will benefit from this partnership

Online beat marketplaces are growing rapidly as the ability to create and distribute music seamlessly from home becomes more mainstream.

Sample-library Splice has a valuation of $500 million.² Beatstars has paid out over $150 million in producer royalties to date.³

The Horizon/ Beatclub partnership offers creators a mutually beneficial ecosystem to drive funding to produce beats and songs while giving back to fans who are seeking new opportunities to engage with creators.

In addition to Beatclub’s stand-out roster of award-winning producers and songwriters, the platform allows creators to keep 100% of their music rights and revenue, set their own terms for pricing, and retain their publishing splits and royalties.

Horizon’s methodology aligns nicely with Beatclub’s vision, and together we believe we will empower the music creator community with the tools to further monetize while inviting fans to share in their success.

“We believe this partnership will empower music creatives at every level by enabling music fans to support their favorite artists very early in the creative process.”

— Gary Marella, Beatclub CEO
